Walsh Waste Auditor^TM

Since the Walsh Waste Auditor’s launch in 1998 over 300 hospitals have demanded a Walsh Waste Audit.  The Walsh Waste Auditor combines computerized solutions for waste and hazard management, detailed accurate analysis, professional presentations, and nationally recognized expertise to deliver a unique, cutting edge solution to auditing a hospital’s waste stream.

A Certified Walsh Waste Auditor (someone who has passed the Walsh Certification Program) performs waste and hazard management, quickly and easily, and is able to deliver a final report in a fraction of the time previously needed. 

Step 1: The auditor uses the latest in hand held computer technology to take notes and digital photos of the waste stream as they tour a hospital.  The auditor also collects relevant volume and cost data for the red bag, recycling and solid waste streams.  With the use of the Walsh Waste Expert System, the time required for the hospital tour and data collections is usually reduced by 70%.

Step 2:  The recorded information is sent via modem to the Walsh Data Center where the auditor reviews the waste and hazard information via the web.  This review covers comments, photos, and notes.  They may also fine tune financial and volume and volume projections to meet desired waste reduction levels, recycling goals and cost saving targets.  The financial analysis and projection capabilities of the Walsh Waste Auditor allow the user to present the hospital with detailed cost and savings projections, including local market cost data, state or municipal recycling mandates, and National Waste Reduction goals. 

Step 3: When the auditor is finished with any needed changes, they select their desired appendices and the audit data is processed instantly into a comprehensive report and PowerPoint presentation.   

The final Walsh Waste Audit Report (click here to see a sample) is a word document that contains all pertinent data including:

• photographs of waste issues and mismanagement

• detailed, accurate financial analysis

• cost/savings projections for 5 years

• all of the appropriate rules and regulations

The PowerPoint presentation is also generated instantaneously (click here to see a sample) and is a powerful way to show the hospital precisely:

• what their problems are

• which solutions are available and

• the costs and savings of the options

The Walsh Waste Audit Report may be used as a Process Improvement Plan for JCAHO.  

 Step 4: The user selects the number of copies desired and format of the PowerPoint presentation for overnight delivery.
