Company Overview

Walsh Integrated Environmental Systems Inc. was founded in 1992 as a supplier of waste management services and technology to the Health Care Industry. The Walsh Waste TrackerTM and the Walsh Waste AuditorTM allow hospitals to manage and track their medical waste, solid waste, and recyclables in a cost efficient and environmentally friendly manner.  The Walsh Quality Support SystemTM is used to audit the quality of any room, lab, or clinical area in a hospital or clinic.

Between 1992 and 1997, Walsh developed and sold turnkey systems that allowed hospitals to understand exactly what was going on with each aspect of their waste stream.  The original systems included handheld laser scanners, electronic scales and dedicated PCs.  Since then we have refined and simplified the technology to the point that a user can be trained in a few hours and gain value virtually overnight.

Our approach is to have the user (a housekeeping supervisor or floor worker) collect data on the floor, and deliver it automatically to the desired receiver, in a predetermined format; e-mail, paper report with color photos, etc.

In 1998 we found that our "Technological Architecture" was applicable well beyond the medical waste market.

Presently we are expanding our client base to include new industries and organizations that require structured data collection and automated reporting systems.

Company Background

Walsh Integrated Environmental Systems Inc. was founded by Stephen Walsh in 1992, focusing attention on the recycling industry.  During a 12 week waste stream audit at the Royal Victoria Hospital in Montreal, Quebec, Canada, Stephen identified the opportunity for a system that would help hospitals manage their medical waste.

Walsh designed and developed the Walsh Waste Tracker  which allowed the hospital to track the production of waste within the hospital, and bill each department individually and precisely.  The Waste Tracker saved enough money to pay for itself within the first six weeks.

In 1998, Walsh developed the Walsh Waste Auditor, which allows a consultant to perform a detailed waste audit quickly and safely, providing a snapshot of the hospital's waste management situation at that point in time.

In 2001, Walsh moved away from the medical waste industry to develop the Quality Support System, which is used to audit rooms for cleanliness and repair.

Presently Walsh's systems are serving over 300 U.S. and Canadian hospitals.
