The environment needs your help. Many hospitals produce as much waste as a
small city. Cardboard and paper easily makes up 20% to 40% of a hospitals total waste
stream. Recyclable glass and plastics make up an additional 10% to 15%. With an effective
plan, this material may be diverted to the recycling stream, saving trees, energy, and
landfill costs too. The Waste TrackerTM assists you in
planning and managing recycling by tracking what is going on and which improvements are
needed where.
In
June of 1998, The AHA and the EPA issued an MOU (Memorandum of Understanding) stating
their goal of "Total Waste Volume Reduction by the health care industry with
an initial goal of achieving a thirty-three percent (33%) reduction in all hospitals by
2005 and a fifty percent (50%) reduction by 2010." These objectives are important,
but cannot be met overnight.
The
Waste TrackerTM gives you a systematic approach to
meeting these and other environmental objectives.
