Most
Directors of Housekeeping, Environmental Service Directors, and Infection Control Nurses
would agree that the key to reducing the cost of Medical waste is through
in-servicing
those people who produce it.
The
Walsh Waste Reduction Program consists of in-service sessions,
a monthly waste tracking service, quarterly reporting
and presentations, and a waste management support
program. Our approach is to
combine professional promotional tools, informative in-service
sessions and valuable waste management services.
We
know that many hospitals can, and do, do this work themselves. Our program is simply a
proven, packaged solution.
Our In-service
and Support program includes:
- In-service sessions to
teach clinical and support staff proper waste disposal measures
- A monthly waste
tracking service provided by an experienced Walsh employee
- Quarterly reporting
and presentations to motivate employees and remind them that the Waste Tracker program is
an ongoing one, and that everyone's effort is needed over time to ensure success
- A comprehensive
internal promotional campaign including:
Posters and handouts
Red bag reminder Post-ItTM notes
Newsletter articles and press releases
Pens, coffee cups, etc.
Whatever it takes to keep the staff informed
and involved in the effort
- Analysis of receptacle
layout to ensure that the right bin is always available
